According to the 2010 Census, 24,110 Koreans are currently living in MA. It proves that the population has been increased 38.8%, which means it increased by 6,471 people from 17,369, in 2000. The Korean population in MA is 7% of total Asian population (349,768), and it ranks 4th, followed by Chinese, Asian Indian, and Vietnamese. The Korean population is 0.4% of total MA population (6,547,620). Starting from May 4th to 26th, the U.S. Federal Census Bureau has officially announced total population and Korean population in each state in the U.S., including District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Koreans in New England, which includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine and Vermont, were counted as 37,000. This demonstrates that the population has been increased 29.2% from 29,337. MA showed the highest rate of increase (38.8%) among New England, and the other states showed around 30%. The Korean population in CT increased 36%, from 7,064 (in 2000) to 9,619, that in RI increased 37%, from 1,560 to 2,138, and ME showed 31% increase, from 875 to 1,144. The population in NH increased 21%, from 1,800 to 2,175, which shows the lowest rate of increase. According to the announcement of the U.S. Census Bureau announced in May 26th, the Korean population in the U.S has been increased 32.2% from 1,076,872 (2000) to 1,423,784 (2010). This results that the Korean population in the U.S. is only around 1% of total Asian population of 14,674,252. The data says that the Korean population is the highest in California, which results 451,892. New York (140,994) and New Jersey (93,679) are 2nd and 3rd highest. The Korean population in MA ranks 14th highest. Wasington DC (District of Columbia) shows the highest rate of increase in Korean population in 10 years by resulting 109% increase. Alabama (102%), Nevada (84%), Pennsylvania (78%), and Texas (67%) are ranking after Washington DC.
