(Boston=Boston Korea) Editorial Dept. = The Korean School Association-US (KSA-US, President Sang Hee Lee), launched in February this year, will host its first official teacher training and academic conference.

KSA-US announced it will hold the "1st KSA-US Teacher Training and Academic Conference" in a hybrid format from June 26-27 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and via Zoom.

The theme of this event is "Classrooms Where Communication and Empathy Come Together, Korean Schools Where Both Students and Teachers Enjoy." Anyone interested in Korean language education, including Korean school teachers, public school Korean language teachers, parents, and education professionals across North America, can participate.

The training will cover diverse topics including the latest Korean language teaching methods, educational material development and utilization, Korean language education in the AI era, next-generation bilingual education, and Korean culture and history education. Over 25 lectures and research presentations are scheduled.

Educators from the New England region will also participate as instructors. Professor Min Jeong Kim from the UMass School of Education will deliver one of three plenary sessions, and teacher Jung Ah Lee from New England Korean School's Basic 1 program will conduct an individual session.

The hybrid format—combining in-person and online participation—will allow educators across North America to share research findings and educational experiences without geographical constraints.

This event is particularly significant as it marks the first official teacher training and academic conference since KSA-US's launch. Founded as the successor to the tradition of the Council of Korean Schools in America established in 1981, KSA-US is pursuing various educational initiatives aimed at strengthening cooperation among Korean schools in North America, enhancing teacher professionalism, and advancing Korean language and cultural education.

President Sang Hee Lee stated, "This training goes beyond simple teacher development—it's a platform for academic exchange where Korean language educators across North America can learn, research, and grow together." She added, "Since excellent Korean language education begins with excellent teachers, we will continue to work diligently to enhance professionalism in educational settings and strengthen collaboration among educators."

KSA-US operates various educational programs including youth writing contests and dream speech competitions, and plans to expand teacher training, academic research, and youth education programs to contribute to the advancement of Korean language education and the spread of Korean culture in North America.

The KSA-US website is www.ksaus.org, and additional information is available on Facebook (Korean School Association-US) and Instagram (@ksaus2026).
