(Boston=BostonKorea) Reporter Jang Myung-sul = The Worcester Red Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, held a Korean Heritage event on Saturday, August 15, introducing diverse aspects of Korean culture including K-pop, traditional percussion music, and hanbok to fans at the ballpark.
Now in its fourth year, the event also honored Korean War veterans. Lee Hak-jae, vice president of the Boston Korean Baseball League, sang both the Korean national anthem and the U.S. national anthem before the game, drawing enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.
Families and friends who visited the stadium on the weekend afternoon enjoyed the baseball game while experiencing Korean culture up close. This year's event was designed to go beyond simple performances, allowing attendees to directly see and experience Korean music and traditional attire.
Characters dressed as figures from "K-pop Demon Hunters" drew particular attention from children and teenagers. Fans lined up to take photos with them, and during the game, songs like "Golden" from a film soundtrack played, adding to the Korean cultural festival atmosphere.
The Korean Heritage event has become an annual tradition for the Worcester Red Sox, using baseball as a medium to introduce Korean culture to the local community and honor the sacrifices of Korean War veterans.
