Suspensions & Hearings: Obtaining a Copy of Your Driving Record

If you need a copy of your driving record, you may obtain one by Internet, mail, telephone, or in person.
Types:

An Unattested Driving Record can be used for information purposes. It contains all of your driving record data, but is not in the same format as a True & Attested Driving Record and does not have a validation stamp on it. The fee for this is $6.00.

A True & Attested Driving Record can be used for official purposes. It is on official RMV letterhead and has a validation stamp on it. The fee for this is $20.00.

If you visit a branch, the driving record you receive will be on official RMV letterhead, but will not have the validation stamp. The fee for this is $20.00.
Processing Time:

For a True & Attested driving record ordered over the Internet, through the mail, or the Telephone Center, please allow ten (10) business days for processing. If you request a True & Attested driving record at the Chinatown/Boston Branch, 630 Washington St., Boston, it will be processed while you wait.

For an Unattested Driving Record ordered over the Internet, you will receive an automated email that contains the driving record as a PDF attachment.

If you request a driving record without a validation stamp in person at a branch, it will be processed while you wait.
Obtaining a Driving Record by Internet:

Please visit our Online Transactions page and, in the Online Branch under "Other Services" select "Request Driving Records." The appropriate fee will be charged to your MasterCard, Visa, or Discover or American Express.
Obtaining a Driving Record by Mail:

Send a written request that includes your name, date of birth, license number, Massachusetts address, and a $20.00 check or money order, made payable to MassDOT (Do Not Mail Cash) to:
Attn: Driving Records
Registry of Motor Vehicles
Court Records Department
PO Box 55889
Boston, MA 02205-5896

Please note, if you currently reside out-of-state, indicate in your request where you would like your driving record mailed.
Obtaining a Driving Record by Telephone:

Please call our Telephone Center.

The appropriate fee will be charged to your MasterCard, Visa, or Discover or American Express.
Obtaining a Driving Record in Person:

Visit any full service RMV branch office. The $20.00 fee is payable by cash, check, money order, Master Card, VISA, or Discover or American Express.

NOTE: RMV branches do not offer a True and Attested Driving Record. A True & Attested Driving Record can only be obtained in person at the Chinatown/Boston Branch at 630 Washington St., Boston Branch or Online.
